Twitter raises the Blue subscription from $3 to $5 a month. This social media platform has sent the new pricing details to all Blue subscribers. Although the new pricing is only for new members, as early adopters, the monthly amount they’re paying will remain the same until October.
Matt Navarra as social media consultant said, first spotted by The Verge, the company will send a notification within 30 days before the new monthly price takes effect for their accounts.
Unfortunately, Twitter hasn’t announced the reason behind the price increase, and it only said if the new price will support the company in providing new features to subscribers. Twitter is currently developing a “more frictionless reading experience” and launching new experimental features in Twitter Blue Labs for those who choose to stick around even with the higher subscription price.
Twitter launched the Blue subscription in November with more additional features for dedicated users. They can use Undo tweets, which is similar to the “edit” button at the moment. New members also can browse news without ads, as well.
In its second-quarter earnings report for 2022, Twitter got a sharp rise in new users. But, it doesn’t reflect the money for the company. The company has a net loss of $270 million, which it blamed on the economic downturn and the uncertainty surrounding Elon Musk’s takeover. As you may remember, Elon Musk planned to buy Twitter for $44 billion back in April, and the social network quickly accepted, but they’ve been at odds since then.
