Samsung launches the new Galaxy Watch5 series; this wearable device focuses on health, fitness, and lifestyle. There are three models, including a vanilla Watch5 in 40mm and 44mm and a Watch5 Pro (45mm).
Samsung uses the Sapphire Crystal display for more protection. Samsung claims this material has 60% more resistance against scratches, and it’s available for all models. The smartwatch has 5ATM water resistance (and IP68, too), plus MIL-STD-810H.
We can see Galaxy Watch5 with 40mm model measures 39.3 x 40.4 x 9.8mm, weighs 28.7g, and has a 1.2″ display (396x396px), the 44mm measures 43.3 x 44.4 x 9.8mm and 33.5g, and the Watch5 Pro measures 45.4 x 45.4 x 10.5mm and weighs 46.5g. The 44mm and the Pro have 1.4″ displays with 450 x 450px resolution display.
They all have Always On Display mode. The company claims the Galaxy Watch5 Pro will have better durability than others due to a protruding bezel and a titanium chassis. The new D Buckle design with no holes allows users to adjust the length seamlessly.
The Pro version is powered with a 590mAh. While the vanilla version has a 284mAh capacity for the 40mm one and 410mAh for the 44mm one. This wearable device supports fast charging, so you can get 8 hours of battery life in just 8 minutes, and you will get 45% in 30 minutes of charging.
All models are powered by the Exynos W920 chipset, and it’s similar to its predecessor chipset. The RAM is 1.5GB and 16GB storage. They all run on the latest One UI Watch 4.5.
The Pro model allows users to get supply a predetermined route (in the form of a GPX file). Users can record route data and share it with your friends who might want to go on the same hike. The navigation support voice guidance keeps you on the trail. When you have the end of the route, the TrackBack feature will guide you to your starting point.
Soon, Google Maps will launch the maps feature that will work without a phone connection. The new smartwatch from Samsung also has a compass, barometer, temperature sensor, accelerometer, gyro, and light sensors. Users will have LTE connectivity as optional; all watches get Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi 5 a/b/g/n, and NFC.
The smartwatch also supports SoundCloud and Deezer. When you are using Spotify, you can ask Google Assistant to change the track.
For the health features, Samsung offers an optical heart rate tracker, plus ECG and a Bioelectrical Impedance (BIA) sensor. BIA analysis will help users to target for weight, body fat percentage, and even skeletal muscle and will guide you through a series of incremental goals.
When you have done cardio exercise, the watch will show you how to maximize recovery, and the device will suggest users drink based on sweat loss data.
The Galaxy Watch5 features sleep tracking, and it will collect data while you sleep; the Sleep Habits Analysis displays your sleep patterns with symbols. There’s a feature called a sleep coaching program to create a personalized month-long program with missions, checklists, and sleep reports to create your perfect sleep environment. In addition, this device supports the Samsung Smart Home system, which will allow you to control the lights and set the air conditioning and TV to predetermined settings.
The Watch Bespoke Studio allows you to mix the model, watch case, and strap that you like. Samsung offers customization to the watches, including two-tone sport straps, NATO bands, a titanium link bracelet, a Milanese strap, and more.
You can pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 series from August 26. The 40mm model will cost $280/€300 for the Bluetooth version and $330/€350 if you want LTE connectivity, and this model comes in Graphite, Silver, and Pink Gold color options. While, the 44mm model gets a slightly different color palette: Graphite, Silver, and Sapphire.
If you don’t mind with cash, you can purchase the Pro version at $450/€470 for a Bluetooth model and goes up to $500/€520 for an LTE one. There are two color options, including Black Titanium and Gray Titanium.
Samsung also releases the Watch5 Golf Edition, which comes with a two-tone band, an unlimited membership to the Smart Caddie app, and exclusive watch faces. All models have a Golf Edition; the 40mm one starts at $330 for a Bluetooth model.
