Google has rolled out a new appearance for Play Store app for tablets and foldable phones to receive more benefits of the bigger screen. The new design will display more content in the same area and look more polished than ever before. Of course, this new design is dedicated to Galaxy Tab or Galaxy Z Fold series devices.
Google announced this design at I/O 2022 event that will make a better appearance for first-party apps on Android 12L and higher. You can look at the new design for Calculator, Clock, Docs, Drive, Lens, Sheets, Slides, TV, and YouTube Music.
The new navigation bar has categorized apps, including Games, Apps, Books, etcetera, with a corresponding icon and text. The new design offers more space vertically and horizontally.
The new Google Play Store app (v32.5.16-21) has the app icon at the top-right corner of the screen, getting rid of the “Google Play” text. There are apps name with icon side by side; the navigation rail shows category names below icons.
The new appearance saves a lot of space to show larger app icons, a design that is more appropriate than before for a tablet. The app shows carousels for specific categories that have cards for the editorial content, giving the app a more personal touch.
Google has redesigned its search bar; while the previous version had a search bar at the top that stretched across the entirety of the screen, the new design has cut its length significantly, making it look more polished than before. When users use the tablet in portrait orientation, the UI looks similar to that on your smartphone.
Google will release the new design update depending on the region and device; you might get the update sooner or later on your Samsung tablet or foldable.
