Apple confirmed to launch of the new iPadOS 16 on Monday, October 24.
The company released the iOS 16 last month, but it’s the first time Apple didn’t also send out iPadOS 16 simultaneously. Apple will introduce the Stage Manager multitasking functionality, which will be available for iPads powered by M1 and M2 chipsets.
Apple is referring to the October 24 release as iPadOS 16, but it could arrive as iPadOS 16.1 alongside an iOS 16.1 release – meaning the two operating systems’ versions would get in sync again. We have to wait for the clear information next Monday.
The latest iPadOS 16 updates will come to the vanilla iPad (5th generation and later), the iPad mini (5th generation and later), the iPad Air (3rd generation and later), as well as all iPad Pro models.
