Apple will bring ads to the App Store on Tuesday in some regions, including ad placements within the Today tab. Apple has reportedly contacted the developers, and the company will notify users that the new ad spots will go live on October 25. Apple will launch this feature to more countries soon, with the exception of China.
The ads will appear in the main Today tab; there is a “You Might Also Like” segment below individual app listings.
The company tested this feature in July; this provides opportunities for developers of all sizes to grow their businesses. Apple claims the Today tab will be the first place for users to see when they begin their App Store visit.
Apple wants this feature will support the ad business growth. In August, it was said the team working on ads wanted to grow from $4 billion in annual revenue into double digits.
Apple is trying to show first-party apps like Books and Podcasts. An expansion of search ads to Apple Maps has also reportedly been explored internally.
