Just as it had promised last week, now Apple launched the latest OS updates. The company rolls out all operating system line up, including iPadOS 16, iOS 16.1, watchOS 9.1, and tvOS 16.1.
The new iPadOS comes with Stage Manager, but it only comes in iPad Pro 12.9 3rd generation and newer, all iPad Pro 11″ models, and the latest iPad Air. The system offers apps and windows organization and allows users to overlap windows of different sizes, drag and drop windows, and much more. This update will be available to M1 and M2 iPads and support full external display for Stage Manager at up to 6K resolutions.
The new iPadOS 16 offers Messages features (edit, undo send, and mark conversations as unread), smart tools for Mail features, including cancel send, schedule send, alerts for forgetting to include a recipient or attachment, reminders to come back to a message, and better search. Apple also offers iCloud Shared Photo Library, new security, and collaboration features for Safari. The Weather app also has improved.
iOS 16.1 supports iCloud Shared Photo Library, Live Activities from third-party apps on the Dynamic Island and the lock screen on iPhone 14 Pro models, Fitness+ without an Apple Watch, key sharing in Wallet, Clean Energy Charging, and bug fixes aplenty.
Meanwhile, the watchOS 9.1 has an improvement in battery life during outdoor walking, running, and hiking. The new update allows users to download music while the watch is off the charger using Wi-Fi and cellular, and the smartwatches also support Matter.
Finally, tvOS 16.1 features a new Siri design. This OS will support the shared photo libraries and support for the Apple Watch-less Fitness+. Unsurprisingly, Matter support has been added here as well.
Apple software updates are generally available to everyone simultaneously, so if you have one or more devices running these operating systems and they haven’t yet prompted you to update, a manual check should do the trick.
