Huawei Band 7 Specs
Huawei Band 7 Design
At first glance, there are no significant changes between the Huawei Band 7 and the predecessor. But, when you get closer to look the details, the Huawei Band 7 is thinner than Huawei Band 6. The weight is only 16 grams, has a 44.35mm height, and is 9.99mm thick.
Compared to its predecessor, the Huawei Band 6 weight 18 grams, has a 10.99mm thickness, Band 6 weight 18 grams, a height of 43mm, and it has a 10.99mm thickness. The Huawei Band 7 has a 1.47-inch AMOLED display found in the Huawei Band 6.
When you use the Huawei Band 7 for day-to-day use, it’s very light.
It has a larger screen display, and Xiaomi Smart Band 7 navigation is very user-friendly. It’s made from “Durable polymer materials”. The smartband has four colour options – dark gray, gold, green, and red.
Huawei Band 7 Software & Features
The smartband runs on HarmonyOS. There are no UI changes from its predecessor. If you need to pair this device to your phone, you need to install the company’s Health app.
Once you pair the device, you can control music through Huawei Band 7, and the device will vibrate when you receive a notification, but you have to enable the Health app manually and select certain apps to receive notifications. Unfortunately, it hasn’t a microphone and a speaker, so you can’t answer calls, but users can reject through quick pre-written replies, that’s a rare feature, of course.
There’s no ambient light sensor in this smartband, so you need to manually adjust the screen’s brightness. You can read the information clearly when it’s adjusted to the maximum.
Like its predecessor, the smartband has water-resistant resistance up to 50 meters; this device has Huawei’s TruSeen 4.0 technology also features a 24/7 heart rate and SpO2 measuring, stress monitoring and sleep tracking. There are 96 workout modes, including Outdoor run, Indoor run, Yoga, Pool swim, Indoor cycle, and Cross fit. In addition, the smartband has some sports trackers, including Skateboarding, Horse riding, Roller skating, Darts, Kendo, Kite flying, Karate, and Auto racing.
The Huawei Band 7 tracker is relatively accurate when compare to Galaxy Watch 4; it can show similar step count, heart rate, and distance. But, there’s a little difference of burned calories result than Watch 4 during treadmill workouts. Due to the lack of movement, the number of calories burned may has different result.
When the user wakes up, the device needs a few seconds to display actual heart rate. In this case, the Huawei Band 7 can only show high heart rate values at first.
But let’s stop complaining; let’s take a look at some new features with its new Band 7.
Always On Display
The new Band 7 supports the Always On Display feature. To activate it, you only need to tap the physical button and go to:
- Settings
- Display
- Always On Display
- After that, all you need to do is choose one of the five Always On Display watch faces.
- Quick Message Reply
Users can reply to the messages by using quick pre-written messages or reactions. But it only works for the selected apps. For example, you can send messages reaction on Facebook Messenger, but you can’t receive on Instagram. You can also add quick replies in Huawei’s Health app.
Huawei Band 7 Battery and Charging
The Huawei Band 7 has a 180mAh cell, the company claims this new model can be operated up to 14 days on a single charge or you can use this device up to 10 days in regular usage.
We have tested this device with three workouts, and full feature enabled, like Always On Display, the smartband can be operated for up to six days, but if you use all trackers and activate full features, a 14-day battery life will most likely be unreachable.
The wearable device has a USB Type-A on one end and there is a pin to attach the band via magnets.
Users can charge Huawei Band 7 from 0% to 100% in around 53 minutes. Even you can reach 80% in about 30 minutes, and that point, the charging speed slows down. The company tries to slow down when the device approaches its full capacity to preserve battery health.
The company claims the device can be operated for up to two days of usage with five minutes of charging. We think Huawei is great with its claim because it’s most likely correct.
Huawei Band 7 Processor & Storage
The company hasn’t announced the RAM and Storage, so we can’t get more raw data. However, the device can work smoothly without any hiccups.
Huawei Band 7 Connectivity
The device supports Bluetooth 5.0. It works on both with iPhones and Android phones, but iPhone users need to have at least iOS 9.1 or Android 6.0.
The Bluetooth connection is really stable, so you won’t have any disconnecting issues when it’s connect to smart tracker.
Unfortunatel, when users need to transfer files to its device, it is extremely slow. Sadly, the device needs an hour to update the new firmware version. An hour!
If you don’t need to workout everyday, the Huawei Band 7 isn’t right choice. It hasn’t a cellular version or even a built-in GPS. The device uses the phone’s GPS to track your movement.
Huawei Band 7 Audio Quality and Haptics
You can’t receive calls or listen to music with the device because it hasn’t a built-in speaker and microphone. There’s a haptic system to give you more experience. They’re nothing special, but you won’t miss any notifications with its vibration.
Huawei Band 7 Competitors
Huawei is trying to compete with other China companies, like Xiaomi Band 7. Both devices come with the same health tracking features but at a slightly lower price.
Huawei Band 7 Summary and final verdict
So, we can say this device is really impressive, with a good fitness tracker for its price. You can get an identical personal smartwatch. The useful features that aren’t common for budget-friendly fitness trackers
Yes, it would be better when the device has an ambient light sensor, a built-in GPS, and the ability to quickly reply to notifications from all apps, but if you run with your phone and adjust the band’s brightness before going out, the lack of the first two things probably won’t be such a problem for you. Although you can’t reply to the message through the full keyboard alphabetic, an emoji or a pre-written response is also very useful.
