Samsung’s One UI 5.0 firmware update comes with more impressive features, such as new multitasking gestures, lock screen customization, and Modes and Routines. The optimation isn’t just for the mobile user, but now this One UI 5.0 brings more features to Samsung DeX, including new taskbar settings and a taskbar-embedded Finder.
Samsung DeX users might notice that the latest One UI 5.0 performs better for its desktop environment. The update brings a magnifier icon to the new taskbar design. There’s a Finder pop-up, similar to a Windows-powered PC.
Finder helps users to find everything on DeX. This isn’t the same with “search” in the apps drawer, which allows you only search apps on the device. With the new magnifier button from the DeX taskbar in One UI 5.0, you can quickly find much information, like device settings, contacts, and apps.
One UI 5.0 comes with a new taskbar settings menu which can be accessed by right-clicking on the taskbar or opening the Settings app and accessing “Samsung DeX,” followed by “Taskbar settings.” Samsung DeX, in the latest update, offers right-click functionality for the taskbar. Samsung promises it will start with future updates.
The new “Taskbar settings” offer an “Auto hide taskbar” feature or hide taskbar shortcuts, such as “Sounds,” “Language,” “Navigation buttons,” “Keyboard,” and “Screen capture.”
One UI 5.0 for Samsung DeX is available for Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, and Galaxy S22 series. Samsung will roll out the update to more phones and tablets in more countries.
