Samsung is expected to launch the new Flip phone in a few months; this is the Galaxy Z Flip5 that will have some improvements, including the design and performance. According to Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO Ross Young, the next flip series will significantly improve. He usually accurately predicted the upcoming product specs from Samsung in the past.
Young claims the Galaxy Z Flip5 will have a larger cover display. It measures around 3.3″ to 3.4″, which is an order of magnitude more than the 1.9″ screen we’re currently getting on the Flip4.
Meanwhile, the other competitor, Oppo’s upcoming Find N2 Flip, seems to release faster than Samsung with a big outer display of its own. The Flip5 might catch up to and even overtake its rumoured 3.26″ size.
Young also said the internal screen would have an upgrade, the new hinge design that will reduce the visibility of the seam. But there needs to be more clear information on whether it will also reduce the feeling of the crease.
Oppo has consistently put out devices with creases in their folding screens, so we need to wait for more Samsung Galaxy Flip 5 details and progress. Better late than never, as they say.
