Samsung released a new update for the carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy S20 FE 5G in the US (SM-781U). This new Android 13 update (One UI 5.0) also brings the December 2022 security patch. It’s probably the phone’s last major update. Today, the carrier-locked Galaxy S20 FE 5G receives the software update in the US with a January 2023 security patch.
The new update comes with firmware version G781USQS9GWA4 and offers the January 2023 security patch. Samsung claims it fixes more than fifty security issues in the phone. This update comes to Dish, MetroPCS, Sprint, and T-Mobile networks in the US. The company promises to release the same update to more networks in the next few days. Samsung is expected to release this update to more markets, devices of 4G and 5G variants, and the carrier-unlocked model.
Once the January 2023 security patch is available for your Galaxy S20 FE 5G, it will notify you. You might receive this new update, or you can check it manually through Settings » Software update and click on Download and install.
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G was launched in September 2020. This phone is now three years old, and it won’t receive the newer versions of Android.
