Meta is expected to launch a new audio feature for the WhatsApp group called Audio Chat. It was spotted on the WhatsApp beta update. Though it seems to be launched in a couple of weeks, the Audio Chat feature is still needing many improvements.
According to WaBetaInfo, the Audio Chats feature will have a new waveform icon at the top of the group chat, but the feature doesn’t work at this time, so we don’t know about the capabilities as well.
There’s no clear information about how Audio Chat works compared to the existing audio recording feature, but from the leaked UI, it may be similar to Slack Huddles, Discord voice chats, and Twitter Spaces, where members can drop the conversation through audio.
Meta is also improving the group chat capabilities of WhatsApp; as we can see, this platform is very popular in Europe and in other markets, where Samsung has many customer support channels. The company also focuses on WhatsApp for Windows; the platform will support up to 32 participants for both group video calls and audio calls.
The Audio Chat will be available on Samsung phones and other Android devices. We still don’t know about the certain functionality or whether the Audio Chat UI will stay the same as we see it in the early beta screenshot.
