Samsung’s new foldable are on the way. According to some credible sources, the Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 will be unveiled alongside the Watch6 and Tab S9 launch in July.
The most interesting rumor is the upcoming Z Flip5 will have a new larger cover display. Some rumors and renders show this device has a “folder-shaped” cover display. According to photos of a snap-on plastic case for the Z Flip5, it shows the device has the display’s large size and odd shape.
The cover display measures 3.4 inches in diagonal, and the device will have a 720 x 748 pixels resolution. The bigger screen allows the device displays more shortcuts and widgets alongside a large clock; it makes the new Z Flip series more functional than its predecessor.
We still don’t get more hardware information on the Z Flip5. But, the rumor said the smartphone uses a new hinge design that will make the device has a tighter closure with a minimal or even non-existent gap. The Samsung Z Flip5 will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy mobile platform. Some storage options include 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage. The base model with 128GB model uses a UFS 3.1 chip instead of UFS 4.0.
The Samsung Z Flip5 will have two 12MP cameras (primary and ultrawide), but the smartphone has the possibility to use new sensors. The charging rate will likely remain at the familiar 25W.
