The upcoming Android 14 will adopt the iOS Battery Health feature to show the device battery’s maximum remaining capacity. The feature will be released to all Android devices when its final version is released.
According to Former XDA-Developers’ EIC Mishaal Rahman, Google will add BatteryManager APIs to Android 14 beta. The API will provide information about cycle count and charging status, and other APIs will collect data to display the device’s manufacturing date, date of first use, charging policy, and state of health.
According to the report, the BATTERY_STATS will be available only on Pixel devices running Android 14 Beta 2 or higher. Developer Narek will use an app called Batt and collect data from those APIs to report the smartphone’s battery health and charge cycles.
However, there’s no 100% accuracy of the data because it depends on the charging IC tracks, and the HAL supports this feature.
The battery health feature will be released on the stable Android 14, and users don’t need to rely on apps like Batt to check their device’s battery health status.
